Online Event: Mapping Range of Variation in High-Stakes Handwriting Casework
Published on July 3, 2026
THE EVENT
This talk introduces and explains the concept of range of variation in handwriting through the lens of high-stakes investigations. Unlike other pattern disciplines, where a static pattern may be obscured by distortion, handwriting examination rests on a pattern that is itself dynamic. That natural variation is exactly what examiners must account for, and mapping it completely is critical to reaching supported opinions. The challenge only grows when the material is large, the timeline is short, and the stakes are high.
This session explains the range of variation in handwriting and why it matters, while demonstrating how technology can assist the examiner in capturing it completely, so that nothing goes unseen.
The event takes place on Thursday July 9, 2026 at 16:00 CET ad will be conducted in English. Please register for free below.
