Today, with the widespread use of social media, obtaining images of missing persons has become relatively straightforward. When these images depict individuals smiling, they enable the use of dental overlays—an especially effective identification method. In addition to overlays, the software supports automatic comparison and searching of dental charts, which is particularly useful in Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) scenarios.
The software allows experts to efficiently compare large sets of antemortem and postmortem dental records using a correspondence-based classification algorithm. Furthermore, in cases where DNA or fingerprints are unavailable or impractical, identification often relies on facial images, medical imaging, and dental data as the primary sources of evidence.
